History of the Internet
 

What is the Internet?
The Internet is made up of lots of cables connecting computers. The computers that are connected are connected by phone lines, cables and some now are wirelessly connected, meaning that they can pick up Internet in most places.
 
Who invented the Internet?
The Internet was first invented by the  DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). when it was first invented it was used to send messages between different universities and defense research facilities.
The Internet that we know today is a modified version of this. There were many different people who had something to do with this they include: Larry G. Roberts  he was the person who created the first system for sending messages over long distances. Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf invented the Transmission Control Protocol which moves information from one place to another.

When  was the Internet invented?
The Internet was started in 1957 when Sputnik I was launched by Soviet Union. America developed the DARPA  in 1958 to protect themselves from space based attacks. In 1969  it worked for the first time between Stanford Research Institute and University of  California. After that more and more computers were connected.

Why was the Internet invented?
The Internet was invented by the Government so they could share information with universities and defense research facilities.
 
When did the Internet enter into homes?
The Internet first entered homes in about 1995. Although the first website was published in 1990, at this time the Internet was not well known. the Internet did not start to become popular until 1995 when Windows 95 came out. Most people started to get Internet in 1997 - 1998. When the turn of the century came only 50% of all homes had Internet access. 
 
How was the Internet used?
When the Internet first entered home it was like an online newspaper you could read what was posed but could not edit the information. Emails were also being sent at this time.
 
How is the Internet used today?
Today the Internet is used to keep in contact with people on social networking sites  like Facebook and emails that we can personalise. it is also use for sites like blogger where you can make, publish and comet on blogs. It is also used  to view news sites but there is more colour and you can watch videos.

How I use the Internet
I use the Internet mostly to check my emails, play games and watch thing on YouTube and some times trade me
